I appreciate your support for the Leadership Programme that is about to start.
Your people will be getting a welcome page like this soon, which will let them know what to expect from the programme and how to get the most from it for themselves and the business.
I wanted to share this information with you so you can help the whole experience have the maximum impact possible. We know that the interest and support of more senior managers play a vital role in the amount of learning that is transferred back to the workplace from a programme like this.
How you can help the programme have maximum impact
The business project
We are asking each participant to identify a business project that they can work on during the programme. This project will provide an opportunity for participants to immediately apply some of their key learnings but also enable to programme to add real value back to the business quickly.
As well as being agreed with you, the projects must:
Be a live business challenge or opportunity.
Have a measurable business impact.
Be a stretch outside of their day-to-day work.
Result in a clear proposal or recommendation to you at the end of the programme.
Please could you agree on the project with the participants before the first workshop?
The business challenge or opportunity
We also ask the participants to identify an additional business challenge or opportunity that, if this programme helped to solve or progress, will add significant value.
Again If you can ensure that your participants do this ahead of the session, that would really help the process.
On the last day of the programme, the participants will present to the group, and the presentation will be recorded and shared with you. Here is the full brief I have given them.
"On the last day of the programme, you will present your project to your fellow participants. This presentation will be recorded and shared with your line manager and other leaders in the business and together you will agree an implementation plan."
At the end of the programme, you will also be asked to summarise:
How this programme has helped you develop as a leader.
How it will help the performance of your business area or venue.
What impact the programme will have on your people and their performance.
How your participation in the programme has impacted your identified business challenge or opportunity."
Reviewing this video and debriefing it with your people will ensure that the project proposals are carried forward and delivered and will help cement their broader insights and ensure this programme has a long-lasting positive impact on their ability to lead their business areas.
If there is anything else I can do to help you support them during and after the programme, please get in touch via richard@twentyoneleadership.com.
I want to do everything I can to ensure that the investment that you and they are making in the programme has a significant impact.
The rest of this page is a duplicate of what the participants will receive ahead of the first workshop.
I am really looking forward to working with you during your Inspiring Leadership programme.
We have designed the programme to meet the outcomes of leaders like you in De Vere. This page has been created to let you know what to expect from the experience and how to get the most from it.
What to expect from the experience
How to prepare to get the most from the programme
I appreciate how busy you are, and I will do everything I can to ensure this programme is a highly valuable use of your time.
The sessions will be immersive, so it is really important that you do everything you can to fully focus on your learning during the workshops and not be distracted by calls or messages from work.
I would also highly recommend that you allocate some focused time during the two weeks after each face-to-face workshop to review your learning and ensure that you apply your key insights.
To help you hit the ground running, I would also like you to reflect on the following and bring your thoughts to the first workshop:
What are your outcomes from the leadership workshops? When the experience has helped you be an even better leader, how will you know?
In your view, what is the distinction between leading and managing?
What key business issue or opportunity do you face that, if this programme helped to solve or progress, will add significant value to your business?
We will focus on the first two points during the programme's first session. The third, we will revisit throughout the experience to ensure we are creating real value in your business.
Your business project
The success of a programme like this lies in how much learning is transferred into your day-to-day work. To support this, you will work on a live business project throughout the programme.
This project must:
Be a live business challenge or opportunity.
Be agreed with your line manager before the first workshop begins.
Have a measurable business impact.
Be a stretch outside of your day-to-day work.
Result in a clear proposal or recommendation to your line manager at the end of the programme.
During the workshops you will be able to apply your learning to your project with the expectation that you continue to develop it between the live events.
On the last day of the programme, you will present your project to your fellow participants. This presentation will be recorded and shared with your line manager and other leaders in the business and together you will agree an implementation plan.
At the end of the programme, you will also be asked to summarise:
How this programme has helped you develop as a leader.
How it will help the performance of your business area or venue.
What impact the programme will have on your people and their performance.
How your participation in the programme has impacted on your identified business challenge or opportunity.
Together, these will help us all to clearly understand the impact of the leadership programme.
